Greetings Friends,

Throughout the pandemic, the First Presbyterian Church of Mahopac has continued its mission of providing a place of worship for all. Thanks to our Covid-19 Taskforce, outside groups, the pre-school, and our church have operated without one incident of exposure. And of course, these protocols have changed over time as the Hudson River Valley area and Putnam County situations have changed.

That being said, in light of the Governor's recent mask mandate, through January 15, the Task Force has agreed to comply with this mandate. When given the option to either check the vaccination status of our parishioners OR issue a blanket mask mandate, the choice was clear to go with requiring masks for the time being.

For myself, and not on behalf of the Taskforce, let me say that I understand that some people will disagree with our compliance. I hear you; I really do. However, the truth is that our facilities and founding charter function as a business. And even now we continue to serve the needs of our community and people coming from a multitude of different contexts. Setting aside any legal penalties if found not complying with this mandate, there is a continued greater responsibility to our neighbors, friends, and members.

As Jesus said, "So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them" (Matthew 7:12a ESV). I know we are all tired, exhausted, and want this to be done, but that doesn't mean our work is over (Your Session, who is working around the clock, knows this!). So I am asking for a little more understanding, a little more patience, and a little more grace. We have continued to do great things and will continue to do so until the mandate expires. I believe that you all have what it takes and that the Spirit of God will give you strength.

Grace and Peace,

The Rev. Casey Carbone

PS. Services will continue to be livestreamed, and our in-person Christmas Eve services are still on track to take place.

Please read over the protocols below if you plan to attend in person (if you can follow the protocol, you are welcome to attend, otherwise, welcome you to attend virtually). Thank you for your continued cooperation and the dedicated work of our Task Force. Grace and Peace, The Rev. Casey Carbone...

December 24, 2021 Greetings Friends, After monitoring the growing number of cases here in Putnam County, the Task Force agreed that in addition to our virtual worship service on December 26th, we would worship virtually on January 2nd (NO IN PERSON WORSHIP) as well. We are thankful that we can host Christmas Eve this year in person, but considering Christmas and New Year's Day, it would be wise to have a buffer between our next in-person gathering, given that many will be traveling or being...

November 23, 2021 Church Donations Read Past Sermons COVID-19 Protocol Hello Friends, After its November 21st meeting, the Session and I agreed that while we look forward to celebrating Christmas Eve in person this year, it would not be wise to overcrowd the sanctuary as we have experienced in past years with the 7 o'clock service. Therefore, we will be providing two Christmas Eve services, one at 5:30 pm and the other at 7:00 pm. The time in-between will allow our air filtration unit to turn...
